Hey!! — I’m Rachel, your Salt Lake City Health Coach.

I’m a functional medicine and holistic health coach that partners with a network of clinicians to provide lab testing, treatment plans, supplement protocols, and health coaching to those struggling with thyroid, gastrointestinal, hormone concerns, and autoimmune conditions.

Areas of Practice

  • Hair loss, cold hands/feet, weight gain, chronic fatigue, dry skin, brain fog, nervousness, anxiety, and heart flutters could be signs of a thyroid issue. Even if you are on a thyroid medication you are still at risk of developing these symptoms. Most MDs only test TSH levels which is NOT the full picture. Let’s take a functional approach to boost and enhance thyroid function.

  • Bloating, gas, food sensitivities, IBS, acid reflux, painful digestion, constipation, loose stool, I’ve heard it all. Let’s take a deeper look at what bacteria, parasites, fungi, or viruses that could be lurking in your GI system and get things back into balance to achieve symptomless eating.

  • What’s better: high-carb or low-carb? Does fat make me gain weight? How much exercise is too little? too much? Do I have to do cardio? Do I need to cut out sugar/gluten/dairy? Should I try keto? Do I need to take supplements?

Health coaches support their clients in making sustainable lifestyle changes by helping them develop their own strengths, resources, and self-efficacy.

They use evidence-based strategies, motivational interviewing techniques, and behavior change theories to foster the client's motivation, commitment, and accountability in achieving their health goals.

Health coaches work collaboratively with clients to address various dimensions of health, including physical, emotional, social, occupational, and spiritual well-being, and they adhere to ethical standards and guidelines in their practice.

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?


Functional medicine differs from conventional medicine, while conventional medicine often focuses on treating symptoms and diseases with medication, functional medicine aims to address the root causes of health issues.

“Conventional,” “Western",” and “Traditional” medicine = Modern American healthcare.

In functional medicine, practitioners in Utah consider the interconnectedness of bodily systems and the unique biochemistry of each individual.

One significant distinction lies in the interpretation of lab work ranges. Conventional medicine typically relies on standard reference ranges based on the general population, including individuals with varying degrees of health.

On the other hand, functional medicine often utilizes optimal lab ranges from healthy individuals, allowing for a more precise evaluation of health status tailored to an individual's unique needs.

This personalized approach in functional medicine emphasizes preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and a holistic understanding of the patient's well-being.
